Privacy Policy — TipSplitz

Last updated: June 16, 2026

1. Introduction

TipSplitz ("the app," "we," "our," or "us") is a tip calculator with smart bill splitting. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the app, how it is used, and your rights regarding your data.

TipSplitz itself does not require an account, sign-in, or any personal information from you. We do not collect, store, or sell your data. The only data collected comes from third-party services that power ads, subscriptions, and crash diagnostics within the app — these are described below.

2. Information We Collect

The app itself does not collect any personal information you enter — bill amounts, tip percentages, and split details stay on your device and are not transmitted to us. However, the following third-party services integrated into the app do collect data:

Google AdMob (advertising)

  • Device advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android)
  • IP address
  • Approximate (coarse) location, derived from your IP address, used to deliver relevant ads
  • General device and usage information used to deliver and measure ads

RevenueCat (subscription management)

  • Purchase history and subscription status
  • An anonymous user identifier used to associate purchases with your device
  • Device and platform information needed to validate subscriptions

Expo / EAS (app updates)

  • Diagnostic information such as app version and platform, used to deliver updates and improve reliability

3. Data Stored on Your Device

Everything you enter in TipSplitz — including bill amounts, split details, saved splits and their notes (the Split Log), and any payment handles you add (such as your Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal username) — is stored only on your device. We do not transmit, collect, or store this information on our servers, and no account is required. Payment handles are used solely to generate the payment request links you choose to share; they are never sent to us. Deleting the app removes this data from your device.

4. How We Use Information

  • AdMob data — used to display ads and, with your permission, personalize them
  • RevenueCat data — used to validate, manage, and restore your subscription
  • Expo data — used to deliver app updates and improve reliability

We do not use any data for our own analytics, marketing, or profiling. We do not sell your information.

5. Third-Party Services

TipSplitz integrates the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

Each service has access only to the data necessary to perform its function. Their data practices are subject to their own policies, not ours.

6. Crash & Diagnostic Reporting

To diagnose crashes and improve stability, TipSplitz uses Sentry, a third-party error-reporting service. When the app hits an error, we send a diagnostic report containing the error and its stack trace, your device model, operating-system version, and app version. These reports do not include your name, email, account, IP address, or any of the bill, split, or payment information you enter — they contain technical diagnostic data only. IP-address storage is disabled and we do not use these reports to identify or track you. Sentry processes this data on our behalf; see Sentry's privacy policy.

7. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

On iOS, TipSplitz uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework to request permission to track your activity across apps and websites owned by other companies. This permission is used by Google AdMob to deliver personalized ads.

If you decline tracking, the app continues to function normally — you will simply see less personalized (but still relevant) ads. Your decision can be changed at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

8. Ad Consent (Android & EEA / UK)

On Android — and on iOS for users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland — TipSplitz uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent SDK to obtain consent for personalized advertising as required by the GDPR and applicable privacy regulations.

You will be presented with a consent form that lets you choose whether to allow personalized ads. If you decline, the app continues to function normally — you will simply see non-personalized ads instead. Your consent choices can be reviewed and changed at any time from within the app's privacy settings.

9. Data Retention

We do not store any data ourselves. Data collected by Google AdMob, RevenueCat, Expo, and Sentry is retained according to their respective privacy policies. To request deletion of data held by these services, please refer to each service's privacy policy linked above.

10. Children's Privacy

TipSplitz is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), if you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to address it.

11. Your Rights

Because we do not collect or store personal information ourselves, most data rights (access, correction, deletion) must be exercised directly with the third-party services listed above. For California residents under the CCPA:

  • We do not sell your personal information
  • You may exercise data rights with each third-party service per their respective policies
  • You will not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will always reflect when it was last revised. Continued use of TipSplitz after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
